Is California in a Housing Crisis? A Panel Discussion Lead by Bob Preston

California YIMBY, Regional Policy Director

The goal of California YIMBY is to get California building again. Specifically, CA YIMBY advocates for laws to permit dense housing near transit and reduce housing impact fees that make home building economically infeasible. They also address financing solutions for new home building, enforcement of state housing laws, reporting requirements for housing law compliance, fixing Regional Housing Needs Allocation procedures, and streamlining the housing approval process. Aaron Eckhouse, CA YIMBY’s Regional Policy Director, grew up in Iowa after his parents were forced out of the Bay Area by high housing costs and underfunded public schools. He moved to California two years ago, where he was taken by the beautiful landscape, amazing produce, and obscenely high rent. He is excited to apply his organizing experience from the 2012 Obama campaign and his YIMBY experience with East Bay for Everyone to the task of ending California’s housing shortage.
